Mary grew up in East Vancouver as a second generation Canadian. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at UBC in 2017, and her UBC Bachelor of Education in 2018. She is currently an elementary teacher with the Vancouver School Board (VSB). Mary is a strong believer in learning through community engagement, and has always been heavily involved in her local community through volunteering at various schools and non-profit organizations. She also currently teaches Mandarin and Cantonese at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Vancouver. Mary was a nominee for the 2018 YWCA Young Woman of Distinction Award.
Amber grew up in the Canadian prairies and moved to Vancouver in 2013. She graduated from UBC in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Inter-disciplinary studies. Amber is passionate about inter-generational learning, community building and social justice. During her time at UBC, she was involved with the Centre for Community Engaged Learning's Trek program and volunteered at organizations in Chinatown and the Downtown Eastside. She currently works at bc211 as an Information & Referral Specialist and as a Behavioural Interventionist for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
